The investigation services are particularly useful where HR or senior staff are accused of wrongdoing, where there is likely to be publicity around a claim, and when overflow support for internal staff is needed. As an experienced employment litigation attorney and former HR executive, Kathryn’s background and experience allow her to conduct prompt and thorough investigations that capture key information and will not disrupt your business. The investigation services provide sound factual and credibility determinations. Investigation reports are provided to key people in your organization, or outside counsel, and allow you to make informed business decisions promptly and effectively to address the issues.

Develops and delivers highly interactive and entertaining training and coaching programs for HR, executive, manager and employee audiences that address compliance with employment laws, internal policies, investigations, and best practices including non-harassment & anti-retaliation, sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity, diversity, workplace violence, leave of absence management & disability discrimination (all matters related to attendance and absences), the National Labor Relations Act, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Policy Review

Develops, reviews and revises employee handbooks, policies and procedures, as well as all kinds written documents for management and employees.

Labor & Employment Law Compliance Counseling

Advises and counsels regarding labor & employment laws (Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, ADEA, PDA, IHRA, FMLA, WC, USERRA, FCRA, WARN, NLRA) and human resources-related topics including discrimination, harassment & anti-retaliation, disability reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, hiring, discipline, promotion, reductions in force (RIFs), separations, severance, non-competes, trade secrets, wage & hour, social media, privacy, workplace violence, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Litigation Avoidance

Oversees the investigation of administrative charges and/or complaints filed with the Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Illinois/local discrimination agencies, as well as the preparation of employer responses, including position statements, agency fact-finding conferences, mediations, conciliations, and agency audits. Services include the selection and management of outside counsel and legal costs/budgets associated with court litigation.
